The latest addition to my collection of shoes is the boat shoe by Bass. Most commonly know for their weejuns, Bass is well known throughout the world of men’s formal shoes. Now, they’ve decided to venture into the world of boat shoes, which is currently dominated by the Sperry Top-Sider. After a short and painful (very painful) break in period, these shoes have finally reached the point where they feel more like an better looking shell for my foot than an actual shoe. Plus, at the relatively low price of $110, you could do a lot worse.

This is my favorite look for the spring. It’s often a little too toasty for the sweater here in Savannah, but at nights it gets a little cooler. I’m rockin the red shorts and Ralph Lauren, leather boat shoes (sans socks). Note the smaller bracelet on my right (your left) wrist. It was made by my lovely girlfriend, Ali.
I’ve never really looked to Father for fashion advise. He’s been pretty typical (as far as a dad goes) with his clothing choice. He has always worn nicer clothes to work (more relaxed now compared to when I was younger) and a tee-shirt and jeans in the evenings. When he would dress up, for a wedding or other event, He would pull out one of his numerous suits that he has had for some time. When I was first getting into fashion and really trying to look good, I would ask him why he never really got any brand names or bothered to follow current fashion trends. He would respond with the same answer as I get from, pretty much, everyone I bring this up with. “Buying brand names is too expensive and I don’t understand why I would bother spending $90 on a shirt when I can get a similar one for only $25.” Now, before I get into how I got him to change (a little), I’ll first tell you that he is a Vice President at Goodwill and Easter Seals, so he likes to buy his clothes from Goodwill to help support his company (and pay practically nothing for his clothes).
One day, my Dad came back home (from an out of state conference) with a new shirt. It was a blue, 1992 Abercrombie and Fitch Oxford (same one as in the picture). He was amazed that it was 18 years old (at the time) and that it was still in amazing shape! This was the shirt that, finally, brought my Father to buying brand names. He’s still yet to become a Lacoste fan (as finding ANYTHING from Lacoste in a Goodwill is impossible), but he has several great items by Tommy, Izod and (I believe) Ralph Lauren.
I also have found some great deals at amazing prices (at Goodwill). I’ve picked up a couple polos including the Lion Brand polo (mentioned in this post) and a Polo Ralph Lauren polo. Goodwill is also a great place to pick up ties! Getting a new tie at Ralph Lauren can cost you way over a hundred dollars, and it will look fresh and new (not really the look I’m going for)! At Goodwill, I can get a tie for only a buck! It will also have a worn in, rustic look that will make it look like I’ve been wearing the tie since I came home from the hospital, for the first time! So, I defiantly encourage everyone to scout out their local Goodwills and look for some deals (and support my Dad!!!).
It should also be noted that although my Dad and I are dressed similarly in the picture… I had my clothes on first, and he is the copy cat here!

Over the past couple days, I’ve been spending all the money I got for Christmas (which we celebrated 6 days early this year). With the money, I purchased five things. A short sleeve, pink L.12.12 polo, a blue oxford, a brown (argyle) full-zip sweater, a 4.2oz bottle of Ralph Lauren #4 and a Christmas gift for Ali (which I won’t show/ tell in case she actually reads this). All the purchases were great deals and I love them all! The only problem is that the lady checking me out forgot to take security tag off the polo. Of course I beeped as I tried to walk out, but I didn’t think to look for a security tag. I stood there for a few minutes, waiting for someone to come check my receipt to make sure I wasn’t stealing anything, but nobody came So now I have to go back sometime and tell Macy’s to take it off! I don’t mind too much, it’s an excuse to go look around the mall one last time before I go back to school!
So, today I went to Goodwill with Dad because he said that I could find some great, brand-name clothes for cheap. Also, he was paying, so of course I’m going to go! While there, I found a polo shirt with a brand that I don’t recognize. It’s called Lion… The picture is of the logo on the shirt on the left chest. I looked it up in google, but found nothing. Dad tossed around the idea that it is a tiny, private company that just decided they wanted to make some polo shirts and one of them ended up in that store. I like the fit, and it seems to be of good quality, so now I have the only “Lion” polo that I know of.
So, today I went in for an interview at the Lacoste store in the Cincinnati Premium Outlets. Thought it went well, but that’s not the main focus of this post. While there, I picked up a blue, with beige stripes, oxford. It is 100% cotton and quite soft! Size 38 fits my neck well, but has a little bit of room around the middle. I may go with a slim fit next time, but it still feels great! The tie in the picture is Christian Dior…
